The Mill River Wetland Committee has acquired a new executive director, Jessica Kochiss. Formerly the marketing manager for American University's School of Public Affairs, she'll help the organization promote its innovative River-Lab educational program.

Fairfield's Best Western Black Rock Inn has been given the Owner Spotlight treatment on the Best Western web site.

The profile appears in the "Best Western for a Better World" section, and the Black Rock Inn's community work — from its extensive antipoverty efforts to sponsoring a Little League baseball team — fits that theme very well indeed. Ranking as one of top 20% hotels in the chain doesn't hurt either.

c2C2 Limited Design Associates' work on the $67 million renovations of the Hotel Hershey continues to attract attention — and notable industry awards.

The U.S. Green Building Council granted the Hotel Hershey Grand Expansion its LEED Silver Certification, along with a LEED Green Award for the hotel's Harvest Restaurant. The registration lobby and the Harvest Restaurant also received Merit Awards of Excellence in Construction from ABC Keystone.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers' Facebook page is gunning for 4,000 or 6,000 "Likes" by Oct. 1.

If they hit one of those targets, fans of the page will get one or two free tickets to a "Facebook Night" game during the 2010–11 hockey season. Plus there's a drawing for prizes that include signed merchandise and a "12 person luxury suite and VIP arena tour" for a 2010–11 home game.

Freestyle Fitness welcomes Fred Sesler to its training staff.

A 28-year veteran of the fitness industry, Fred is also a martial arts Hall of Famer, former Golden Glove Champion boxer, accomplished bodybuilder, and NASM-certified personal trainer.

He's available for personal training and martial arts classes for both kids and adults.

Local professionals continue to make the national scene this year.

Tim Russell of Russell Agency fame was named the 2010 Professional Agent of the Year by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) in March.

Tim was the Connecticut PIA's agent of the year in 2009, so it's not as if we weren't warned. State Insurance Commissioner Thomas Sullivan personally endorsed his nomination for the national award.

The Roart Group's Rosann Levy has been profiled in the Mar. 26 Housatonic Times. It tells the story behind her memoir, It's Never Too Late to Dance, which received an award from the Connecticut Press Club May 6.

Brody Wilkinson PC principals Peter Mott and James Rice have been selected for the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America — an exhaustive peer review process that involves 2.8 million evaluations submitted by attorneys nationwide.

The United Illuminating Company has launched a new web site devoted to Connecticut's "Central Coast" — a 17-town region served by UI that stretches from Fairfield to North Branford.

Connecticut's Central Coast has demographics, workforce statistics and data on key industries, plus listings of available sites and office buildings.

Dr. Robert Kipp of Pro-Health Chiropractic was presented with the prestigious Chiropractor of the Year Award at Parker Seminars Las Vegas, billed as the world's largest chiropractic event.

The Parker College of Chiropractic recognized Dr. Kipp for "his dedication to serving his patients' needs to lead more productive, healthy and happy lives, and for his contributions to the advancement of the chiropractic profession worldwide."
